Transfer Case Swap

Can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. Can I swap the transfer case out of a 98 XJ into my 90 XJ? If not can I swap in the tailcone so I can do a cheap Hack & Tap? Any help would be great. Thanks.

yes you can if you have the 23 spline. in 90 there is a slim chance for 21 splines

Like said, count input spline count. If you got the CAD, plug the lines.

Thanks for the help. So if I swap the transfer case and the one piece axle shaft from the 98 I should be set? How about the speedometer?

you need the axle seal for the pass side when you in stall the 1 pc. speedo wise i can not remember if they were the same size hole.

Nobody else knows about the speedo working?

use the original speedo sensor and gear from the 90 and it should work. make sure it is full seated.
