Giant Rock?

Was anyone else here at Giant Rock for the Thanksgiving weekend? I saw 2 or 3 XJ's out there on Friday. There was a really sweet looking white one out there that looked a lot like FordGuys. We were camped along Giant Rock Rd and my white XJ was sitting close to the road.

I did find out that if I do go a little faster through the whoops my XJ rides better, except for the really big ones. I came up on a couple of those real quick and almost did a "DumpTruck".

The only carnage was a power steering hose broke. Cut off the end, put it back on and took off. Lost a lugnut somewhere and got a little muddy down by the not-so-dry lakebed. I developed some new clunks I may have to investigate further.

Hey, We were camping at Melville Dry Lake and rode over to Big Rock. I've got a white XJ with bushwackers. And my buddy has a white xj covered in mud, We were there with an orange truck and some race buggys. I ended up blowing out both my rear shocks. Damed whoops!

'giant rock'... where exactly is that?

in the Mojave desert about 12-15 miles north of Yucca Valley, which itself is about 2 hours east of Los Angeles.
From the junction of Routes 62 and 247, go about 12.5 miles north on 247 to Linn Road.
Turn east on Linn Road, and go three miles until you see the domed building. The road is paved all the way there.
Giant Rock is about three miles away on a sandy dirt road that any vehicle can handle. From the Integretron, continue on Linn Road, which turns to dirt.
Bear left at the first fork. About 1.5 miles later, you'll encounter another fork. Keep right here and go another 1.5 miles until you
come to it
-- a giant rock.

maybe that was you then. Was it Friday when you went? I saw a white one, then some buggys and what I thought was a brown one heading from the rock to the integratron.

I had the whote jeep with the big 3 skull and crossbone, pirate flag on it

Much easier to exit the 247 (Old Woman Springs Road) at right on Bodick road (becomes El Lobo Rd and then merges into Mikiska Blvd) and drive east. It will take you straight to it, just right on Giant Rock Rd.

whoops are all about timing, theres a sweet spot that turns sour quick....

Right behind the Woody.
