97 4.0 to 87 aw4

Im swapin a 97 4.0 into my 87. Im switching over the the wiring harness and everything. I know the 87 has its own tcu and opperates indepently from the motor(im pretty sure). my question is will the 97 motor and obdII system work with my 87 aw4 and tc? the 4.0 also had an aw4 behind it but it was a 2wd transmission. How can i make this work?

The flywheel or flexplate are different, so you'll need to use the appropriate one for the 87 computer. Stick with the 87 tranny. Otherwise, I highly recommend doing some searches on "HO engine into a Renix". There are tons of writeups and threads on that topic.
