I was finally able to hit the trail with my new ride, and the first thing I noticed was the small amount of rubber between my wheel and the rocks. I'm running brand new wheels and tires from a Rubicon on my XJ, which roughly translate to a 31x9.50x16. I'm worried about losing a bead, and/or wheel damage.
I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to switch to a 15" wheel and a 31x10.50 tire. If I swtich to a 15", I'll probably go with a black steel wheel - fwiw.
I'm always interested in other peoples opnions - so what do you think? TIA
Keep what I have (245/75/16)?
Go to 31x10.50x15s?
Here's a pic from this weekend. I was running 18psi. I would have tried them out in the 13-14 range but didn't have my air source with me to air up for the drive home.
