building an 8.25 27 spline

everyone goes witha 29 spline 8.25 for the obviouse reasons. i was just wondering if its worth building up a 27 spline.. Does anyone wheel one? how much ofa beating can they take. i'd only be running 33's on it with 456's locked.

i have a 27spline 8.25 that i will soon gear and put in the xj
hope its better than the d35

well i'll try to answer u with what other people told me
as far as streght it would fall like this

dana35-----8.25(27spline)---8.25(29spline)-------dana44

33's will work fine on the 27 spline
if ur locking i would go with a lsd or a soft locker
hard lockers like a detroit are more likely to cause more damage
with 35's like im doing im just going to keep it open

27-spline locker options aren't as available with the 29...since the 29's are slightly stronger and can be dropped into the axle during a regear I'd recommend going that route just for the peace of mind offered.
