max tire for stock 15x7 tire

just bein courious here.. gonna do a rustys 3.5 inch lift and want bigger tires.. what is the max width for about a 31-32inch tall tire i could fit on the stocker 15x7's? brand would be helpful... also not too worried about wear, only put about 6k at most on the 00' xj.. i do some trail riding and a bit of muddin on stock wheels and height now... anything will help!

Stock wheels have a backspacing of 5.25. That will be the limiting factor as far as tire width goes. Anything wider than 9.5" will rub the lower control arms when you turn to the steering stops. Thats easy to fix by adding a couple washers to the steering stops. If you go wider than 11.5, you will run into trouble with the tires rubbing the rear springs, in addition to your turning radius being effected alot.

Wheel spacers would certainly help. I wouldn't go any wider than a 12.50 on a 7" wide rim. Personally, I'd rather go up to a 8" rim once I hit 11.50.
