Window keeps going up and down after pressing button

Every time I use the auto up/down button/function on my 2000 Cherokee Sport the window doesn't stop at the top or the bottom. It keeps going and making a heavy clicking sound. It stops after 3 or 4 clicks but I can say this isn't a good thing. Do you think I'll experence any problems or break the motor from this problem?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had it for the past 3 years. I am pretty sure a new regulator would fix this however I haven't cared enough to find out. Nor do I feel like dropping the cash for a new one. Mine doesn't do it going down though, only up.

I have just been killing the switch before it gets to that point.

Same here, I just didn't want to break the thing.
