are there any cons if i were to engage my dana 30 and rigg it to stay engaged for good?

If you're talking about one of the vaccum disconnect d30's then there is no issue, there are kits out there to do this, and the later d30's did away with this system and stay engaged all the time.

thats what i was hopeing! i can seem to hunt down the cause of my 1 in Hg vacuum so i wanted to engage it for good. Any advise on where i can get one of those kits?
