should the stearer shaft thing have play?

I Have a 96 4.0 5 speed and just finished up my RE 5.5 (didnt drive it yet) Noticed some play in h stearing and noticed that the shaft that comes out of the power stearing box has play and is leaking is this the seal and bearing or what? Sinple job? It is the shaft that goes to the pittman arm? any help would be great.

I replaced mine with a rebuilt one from Autozone for about 80 bucks. It was too loose, and knocking, but had not started leaking.
