What's the best way to clean the engine and engine bay without doing any damage duo to water getting where it shouldn't. i was thinking about going to the quarter machine car wash place and get a couple of cans of engine degreaser. spray the degreaser and power wash it all off. is that a good way to do it or is there a better option? I really want to do this because i bought my xj and realized after i bought it that they didn't take care of it very well. i want to trace leaks and fix'em!

I'd say using that much pressure might not be such a good idea. I just used brake cleaner/engine degreaser or even common household degreasers, let it soak, and then use a garden hose and such. Works.

Try to keep water away from the plugs/distributor and the PCM.....
