ID'ing axles...

I picked up a HP D44/ 9" combo from a '79 bronco.

I'm wondering if there is a website or something else that I can ID these axles with just to make sure they are what I think they are.

I have all the numbers off the ID tags from the axles.

I may be over thinking this too much but that is just the way that I am.

Any help is appreciated.

if they are from a 79 bronco they are hp44 and 9".

Here they are:
HP D44:
3 00 D9TA BBB
610088 - 6

9":
WDM-CH 8MC
3 00 9 620A

What are you wanting to know about them?

The tags should show the gear ratio.

If they are from a '79 the 9" will have 3/8 bolts that hold on the brake backing plates and axle retaining plates, opposed to the 1/2" bolts found on '78 and older models. The hp44 will have cast on radius arm mounts as opposed to the welded on ones.

is the 9" a big bearing or small?

I do not know how to tell other than one is bigger than the other (obviously)

Trucks are big bearing, 31 spline, and cars are small bearing, 28 spline, IIRC.

It should be a heavy duty (reinforced housing) big bearing 31 spline.
