There is something wrong with my 231 and I plan on rebuilding it. I need my xj as it is my DD. I am able to get a 242 for $170. I plan on using this for 2wd only for the time it takes to rebuild my 231. I have a many questions:
1. How long should it take? (Hours)
2. How difficult is it? I have taken a year in auto shop and feel confidant in my mechanical skills.
3. Are any special tools needed?
4. What rebuild kit should I get? I have been looking at the JB Conversions because that is the only one I know of. Any others?
5. Where can I find directions to rebuild?
6. Will a 242 fit in? I have an '89 Auto. I know I need to check input count but is that it?
7. What will I need to put the 242 in? It probably wont be shifted. So will I need the linkage or any of that?
8. Where can I get the HD chain?
9. What is the Terra 2Low Kit? And Should I install it while I have the case apart?
