Gauge cluster help

I just bought a 96 xj and I am new to the hole jeep thing. I want to know if I can change out the cluster with one that has a tach a gauges. Also what all will I need other than the cluster.thanks

You need a gauge cluster, a new oil presure sensor and a new water temp sensor. Those are the only sensors that are different between the idiot lights and the gauges. It takes about 2 hours to switch. There are a bunch of threads on this so do a search. It is basically a plug and play deal. It was one of the first things I did to my 96xj. Oh yeah, I think the cluster needs to be a 91 - 96 for everthing to work.

Oh yeah, the tem sensor you want is the one on the head near the back of the block. The one on the thermostat housing doesn't affect the gauges.

Just tell them you need sensors for gauges, not for idiot lights.
