I have aquired these and im going to retro fit it to my XJ

My Q is is it OK to weld them to the subframe or should i get some 3x3x1/4 angle iron and plate it and weld to that?

Also if I Plate it should I notch it around the crossmember?


I'll try to provide pics of the process. What are some good pic hosting sites?

yes, you have to plate the "frame", don't weld directly to it.

oops......I must have screwed up. I have all kinds of stuff welded directly to my frame.

You can weld to the frame, but it's a very good idea to beef up the frame with some plate, angle iron, or something. Hard use over time can hurt the frame badly....best to reinforce it up front.
