I have owned a 88 with a 4.0 for years...
I recently picked up a 92 H.O.
Both motors are weak....even after a recent $2000.00 in the 88's within the last 2000 miles.
The 92 HO seems to have some life left with a little work, but I want the 92 for a DD and tow rig, so heres what I want to do.
Remove 92 motor, wiring harness tranny and computer and put in 88.
I just ordered a Golen Engine Service 4.6L Stroker Long Block to go in the 92 with the 88's computer and tranny (taking it to be rebuilt...never given me any trouble, but its got over 400,000 miles on it...it's time.
the 92 stuff to the 88 is straight forward....but what kind of heartaches am I gonna run into with the 88 stuff into the 92?? both have a 242 tranfer case, although I was planning on putting in dual 231's in the 88. I know I have to switch to 24 lb./hr injectors, and a larger TB???
