97+ driveshaft hybrids, lengthening

I have a 3-4" lift on my 99/aw4/np242 xj. For the rear I used shims to make the pinion and t-case output parallel. The slip yoke is only on the output shaft by exactly 1 inch.

Couldn't I use a np231/d35 shaft and bolt it to my slip yoke for the extra 2 inches? Is the actual body of xj drive shafts the same for all years? I know that the splines are different 84-96 and 97+, but the ujoints are the same, so I'd assume I could bolt on a longer shaft to my slip yoke to get the better spline engagement. Am I right?

I'm running a stock front shaft in the rear of my jeep on 6 inches of lift, a stock shaft should be fine for your lift.

So it doesnt matter if most of the splines are showing on the tcase?

Yes you could run a D35 shaft. They are longest.

Thanks. Ordered a 29.5" shaft. Should be about an inch more on the tcase output.
