I'm gonna head up with Scott (the new owner of my rig) to Big Bear Saturday morning to say goodbye the best way I know how. I don't have all day to wheel so I probably will only be hitting one trail. I'm looking for a rig or two to join me. I plan to ether run Gold Mtn. or John Bull. If some rather built rigs come along then I will run John Bull. If some mild rigs come along then I will run Gold Mtn. I just don't want to go at a snail pace on my last trip out with the XJ. I want to hit the trail at a good pace and keep moving. Let me know if your interested in joining.
That would have been sweet. If no one comes along then I will just run Gold Mtn. I'm not a big fan of running challenging trails alone. It's just not smart. gold mtn. is fun but in no way is going to challenge my rig. If I break down I at least have cell service on most of the trail. John Bull is horrible for getting a signal.
Yeah, gold mountain still has coverage. I'd like to run From deep creek up to Gold mountain one of these days. It have to be a weekend where have the whole effing day Not only that but i would want to be at the trail @ 8am. Ill get it done sometime after Goatfest.

Cool, ill hit you up about it via the fizzone and we can work it out. We should be able to do it in a day or over a weekend. Sleep in the jeeps or eve camp out in serrano.

Back on topic.
Scott is supposed to be at my place between 9-9:30 am and we would leave shortly after and it takes me about 40 minutes to get to the trail heads. If you are planning to come along, maybe Scott (the guy who bought my rig) could come to your place and then head up with you. He was gonna be driving his vehicle up which meant he had to leave the XJ behind at the end of the day and come back for it another day. If he hitched a ride with you then he could actually drive the XJ home at the end of the day. Let me know if this could work.
I definately didnt' want to, but I really had no other choice. It was the only thing I own that had value and I could sell quickly to pay for crap. My WJ will now be my wheeler, so the extreme trails will no longer be an optionn but I will still be able to run most socal trails. It will be fun to go back to my routes of wheelin with a mild build with stock gear, no lockers, no chromos. I will have to remember how to be gentle on the skinny peddle. I kinda quit carring once my rig was built strong enough to take abuse and a heavy foot.
Anyone else wanting to join us? Since I dont have anyone else coming that's a "for sure" I'm gonna run Gold mtn. which means most rigs can come along. I will be leaving my place at 10:00 am and will be at the trail head of gold mtn. at about 10:45 and will be on the trail around 11am. I will have my cb on ch.14 if someone is running late and wants to catch up.
I would like to come for sure... my jeep doesnt suck too much, i might trailer it up.... but i would love to come run john bull...... earlier would be better

I can't really leave any earlier since I'm meeting Scott and he is coming the earliest he can. He had to drop his dad off at the airport first. If you want to come, that would be awesome. I just pmed you my cell so give me a call and we can figure it out.
Had a great day wheelin today with Scott and Unhitched. I was glad to be able to wheel it one last time and i was really glad we decided to run John Bull. My old rig is now in really good hands. Scott seems like a great guy and will fit in well here. As I watched Scott pull out of my driveway with my old rig I was trying to be stoic and keep it together and as I turned around it was my wife that broke down. I couldn't believe she started crying. Since our son is finally old enough to enjoy my trips my wife has been joining me a lot recently and I guess she bonded with the Jeep more then I realized. I also let her drive John Bull and Calico last time which helped. I think watching my wife cry after my Jeep drove away was one of the sexiest things she has ever done. Since I no longer have an XJ I probably wont be on here as often, but one of these days when finances and this economy turn around, I will definately get back into an XJ. I will be on here to check for trail runs. I still plan to wheel with you guys in my WJ but I need to at least put a little money in armor before I beat the hell out of it.
