Sunny Sunday Cali Project Pictures...and Q on my gearset

So I decided to fix my leaky bent rear diff cover by throwing it out and replacing it along with putting new gaskets and oil in the 8.25 rear.
Thought it would be a good idea to see what's in the rear pumpkin as well..
Also, removed my drive shaft and put a new U-joint in the rear. Old one was beyond toast. Here are some pictures below of my lazy Sunday Activities :D

My tech question, if anyone can tell from the pictures the size gears that are installed in the rear end? I bought the jeep a few months ago. Thanks!
:peace:

Nice work.

As far as the gears-

Spin the wheels when elevated, and count how many times the driveshaft spins.

It could be 3.55, or 4.10, 4.56, or maybe 4.88.

White XJ the old owner said it was regeared for 35's, it's currently running 33s....so who knows.
I'll try spinning the tires and watching ds.
Can you tell if I have any type of limited slip? I don't think it does

Gotcha. This jeep is a little ghetto. The old owner broke the pass rear shock mount off, and now it's running on 3 shocks and the 2 fronts are different than the rear.
Rides like crap to say the least. But maybe with U joint fix it wont vibrate as bad on freeway. It has a droning in and out vibration around 50-60+mph that is constant, and annoying.

Was thinking of putting these in the rear. The shock mounts next to the shocks are for on top of the axle so the short ones even with a lift should be good. But I think I will need a bar pin to make it work..or something like that

its just a minor chip in the shaft because we had to pound the ring out to get the original ujoint out because the owner before me must have had the drive shaft drop on him...

The gears are 4.10s.
Thanks guys

ps the east coast...has no waves

my concern would be that clip rotating and popping out of that "minor chip", then the ujoint cap walking out and tossing the driveshaft on the freeway at speed. it happened to me at 70mph and it was not fun. also cost me about 800$ in broken parts from the driveshaft flopping about before it was finally thrown from the vehicle.

your jeep, your life, your problem. just trying to give you a heads up.

enjoy :D
