Rear axle play -how much is too much?
'92 XJ 8.25" open
While changing the diff fluid, I had the Jeep up on jack stands so I could spin the tires and take a look around inside. I can spin a tire a full inch of travel before it hooks up with the other side. The ring rotates along with the pinion. I thought the ring was supposed to be fixed in place. Is this a big uh oh, the clock is ticking? I only have 227K on the odo - just getting broken in.
