AW4 wont shift into 3rd or Drive HELP HELP

I checked the shift module for loose wires and did not find any.

HELP. Any ideas. Shifts 1st and 2nd fine. this came on all of a sudden.

Forgot to mention this is a 1991 XJ.

Start by disconnecting the trans computer and seeing if it shifts manually. Putting the shifter in (1-2) will give you 1st, in (3) is 3rd, and (D) gives you 4th. If that's good then its almost certainly an electrical problem. In order of likelihood - TPS sensor, bad solenoid, and bad trans computer.

My '90 has done this to me 2 times in circumstances in which I had to keep going. I figured out if I redline it then it will shift...I had to go through all the gears to redline except 4th/OD and once it hit 4th it shifted perfectly fine afterwards. Again mine has done this twice but it's been a month or so since the last time it happened to me.
