So im getti ready to go 5.5" on my 96... how many people out there have actually have had problems with their stock trnsfer case and drive shaft seperating... and will a t-case drop be enough?

First off....welcome to

This question fets`isked at least every other week if not more often. In order for anyone to accurately answer your question we would need a crystal ball. It's just so situational and each rig will be different so there's hardly a definitive answer. Odds are very good though, that you will want to get a SYE and new driveshaft. Why put all the effort into a sweet lift and then lower that t case and lose ground clearance again? Just doesn't make sense. I doubt at 5.5" youvd even be able to limp by on a t case drop but ya never know.
