I am wanting to build a truss for a rear Dana 44, I would like to model it before hand in Solidworks. I don't, however want to model the Dana 44 if at all possible. I have been looking on the web and 3D contentcentral with no luck. Does anyone know where you can get a Solidworks file for the 44?

I dont have one but what about a lazer scan of the 44 you plan on putting the truss on...

you can make your own scanner (haven't myself yet) for what seems to be cheap....then use use "david" ill provide links for both and simply import it in as a stl file.... then just work off from the stl dumb model and design what you would like....

Or... just take some quick Outside dims.. and make a less complicated "model" of it and work from there...

Here are the links....

Heres one using a web cam and a laser pointer....

Or just get a model somewhere else... ( i tend to over do stuff sometimes...)

just take any important measurements and make the model yourself! can't be that difficult

I assume you go to Oklohoma state, see if your school has a portable CMM

Why are you trying to make it so complicated?Buy some steel and make a truss,DONE!

Yeah, I went to Oklahoma State, graduated a while ago, so not sure if I could get access to their machines. As far as making it complicated...I am anal like that, just like a solid plan to be laid out. I will probably end up taking all the measurements and modeling it.

Thanks for the responses though.
