The next major project on my XJ will be an SYE and new driveshaft. Right now I’m at 4” of lift. If I install the SYE/DS and then go up to say 6” of lift will I need a new driveshaft? Or is there not that much change in length in the DS from 4” to 6” of lift?

2" is not too much of a distance. The best way to see what is going to happen is to take your rear wheels off and lowerd the whole rear end down and see how much slip yoke contact you have, and as long as it is acceptable at that height you will be ok. Tell them your intention when you have the driveshaft made im sure you will get good advice.

get the measurements for a new DS after you go 6" of lift. Don't get a new DS if you are only going to be at 4" for a short period.
