Bushing Preload

I'm in the middle of installing a Rusty's 6.5 in. long arm lift on my XJ, and I need some advise. Can anybody explain to me the proper way to adjust the bushing preload on Rusty's forged rod ends? I know Rusty's has a bad name around here but any help would be appreciated.

I don't know the proper method for that brand but I suggest tighten it down till you feel the torque suddenly rise and go another 1/8 - 1/4 turn.

I thought maybe you should tighten them all the way down and back them off like 1/4 or 1/8 a turn, but I'm not sure. I would hate to do it wrong and wear out my rod ends in a couple hundred miles.

I believe the idea is to remove any play in the joint without deflecting the plastic insert.
