Terrorists and the Patriot act

I was curious why the alphabet agencies jumped the gun on the terrorists they busted this weekend and why it has been front page news on CNN for the past 4 days. I finally figured it out this morning at 0530 on Cspan, three provisions of the patriot act are up for renewal this week, business records, lone wolf, roving wiretap. The hearings started yesterday. I also note that doing a search on the renewal returns no national media attention, no fox, no CNN, just local media. Guess they wanted to keep this low profile.

My guess is they had to do something to get it to the media forefront.

"See, this is why we need the patriot act renewed".....

NYPD wanted the press and to show up the FBI. They jumped the gun...:nono:

So much for cooperation between agencies to protect the citizenry

Well you'll notice on the side of many police cars it only says, "To Protect and Serve"....it doesn't specify what they're protecting or who they intend to serve. =)
