That's interesting. You're the only other person I've heard of that's kept the FI for that swap. I've got a few questions for you when you get it running. Like what you did for a temp sensor. Odd enough my engine fit under the hood without any clearance issues at all. Geting the right belt...
When I had mine balanced they removed the pads from one side and welded some on another location. This makes me think that just removing the pads doesn't mean a neutraly balanced flex plate. I remeber the plate having some holes in the opposite end of the weights too. That would offset things...
So prior to putting a new engine in my jeep I've never had a problem with this thing. But ever since I did a 3.4l swap in my cherokee I haven't been able to shift the front hub out of 4wd. The T-case is vacume operated and it workes just fine. I can't find any melted vacume lines or kinked...
Good work. I just finished installing a 3.4 into my cherokee and I definitely agree, it helps to be lifted. I'm still trying to figure the quirks out of having a new engine.
How do you like the better performance. Mine's not what I hoped it would be but I think my tires are sapping the...
Are any of you guys running the mpfi? I'm needing a belt and can't seem to find the right length with the AC compressor removed. The one I have is squeeking so bad I can't stand it.
Usually a stroked 2.8 is a 3.1. A 3.4 has 4mm more bore as well as a longer stroke.
If the kit is a crank from a 3.1 or 3.4 then you need to have your current flywheel balanced. The only reason you can use your current flywheel would be if the new crank is weighted.
You won't be able to just swap the tanks or even the sending units from a 2.8L jeep. The tank is the same and the sending unit would fit but it's not compatible with your guage. The ohms rating isn't the same. Also, the sending unit is welded onto the draw line that goes to the bottom of the...
That would be without a mechanical pump. If it has a mech. pump on it, try it with that and see how it works. Pull the sending unit and remove the in-tank pump. You might have to attatch a piece of hose somehow to keep the sump on the bottom of the tank, you don't want to use that pump...
I haven't picked them up so I called the guy I'm buying them from and they don't have them. I did a little search and found a set of run-flats/beadlocks for $17 ea, that's not so bad so I'll still be getting them. I think you have to have at least a 37 for these though, not sure. I'll be...
I found them on a local Utah forum, just a guy had them sitting around. There's usually a set on Ebay, you can also find them at military surplus places.
Looks good, I bet they hold. That's cheap for sure.
It makes noise but won't turn over huh? What kind of noise? The starter is simple. 12 volts constant to the large connection, 12 volts (when cranking) to the small connection. Your battery might not have enough juice to turn the larger motor or your starter might not be good. You can use...
That's a very good price for those axles. The HP 44 is hard to find with non-cast radius arm mounts. I just bought the same two axles two weeks ago for $400.
Those would be from a F100 or F150.
Hmmmm....I'm stumped, what kind of locker? Lockwrong?
(get ready for rambling) Lockrights have a way of locking one side in when not under torque, this means the gears are meshed on one side but not the other. So you could be doing the same thing, transfering the drag through just one tire...
My diamondplate rockerpanels are stuck on with 3M double sided adhesive tape. I had just repainted my jeep, waited for a warm day, cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and taped the suckers on. Two years later there's still no way they're coming off unless I cut through the tape.
I bent all mine...
