    Front Axel Question

Yes, you can put the 2WD axle beam in place of the 4WD axle. It will bolt right in. I went the other way and converted my 2WD to 4WD about 10 years ago.

Should PAYING Members of less than 1 year be allowed to serve on the Mid Atl. BOD?

Re: Should PAYING Members of less than 1 year be allowed to serve on the Mid Atl. BOD? If a member can get a nomination and a second they should be placed on the ballot regardless of their tenure. Use your vote in the election to rule them out if you don't think they are qualified.

    Just an Idea....Paying Members

Count me too. I'm usually lurking somewhere behind the scenes but that doesn't mean I'm not paying attention. My work/travel schedule keeps me pretty busy but I'll do what I can to get this off the ground. Historically there has been a small subset of DC area members that include Northern VA...

    hitch and skid plate

The Mopar skid goes beneath everything. You don't even have to loosen the straps or remove the plastic. I had to trim the edges a little to create clearance but left everything in place and just bolted the skid plate up.

    87 chero

If it has a V-6 then it's been put in after it came out of the factory. 1987 was the first year for the AMC 4.0 I-6, which replaced an anemic GM V-6. If it is the 4.0 then you also have an Asin Warner AW-4 transmission. As far as accessories there were lots of combinations but the 4 trim...

    89

The only things I can think of over there are the 4WD indcator switch, it has an air line and a couple of wires to it, and the expansion block for the A/C. There was enough space for me to mount my OBA compressor in there, so there can't be much else, but I'll look under my '87 and if I come up...

    Now THIS is interesting!

Of course in Europe it will happen next month because they they show dates in the dd/mm/yy format, which actually is more logical because the places increase in magnitude that way.

    Adding delay to windshield wiper

I added a delay wipers to mine but got them as a byproduct of installing a new tilt column. I got the column which was already equipped with the stalk and just had to plug in the delay module and they worked fine.

A little more transfer case help

The vacuum connector was for the disconnect front axle found on early model XJ's. I'm running a transfer case with the vacuum attachment but do not have it connected. The case will work just fine but I'd reccommend plugging the inlets just to keep contaminatin out.

    Blown A/C Line

Usually the lines break down and don't fail catastrophically like that but remember that the part is pushing 20 years old though and anything is possible. I had to replace all the lines on my '87 two years ago and I'm hoping they too will give me 15 years of service like the originals.

    Used tranny good price?

I just picked a used one up for $250. The last $250 one I bought lasted over 100K, so I'm hoping the same hold true again.

does anyone know what this part is called?

That's part of the CCV harness. The left and the right section, with all their associated hoses, hook together there. If you lift it out of the cradle it sits in it you'll be able to separate it in the middle and see what I mean. If something's broken going into it you'll need to replace that...

60mm vs. 62mm Throttle body bore

So what's your source for the 62mm throttle plates? I'm ready to give this a try myself.

*Clunk* & special 2WD question (spindles)

The spindle/steering knuckle is a one piece unit. The part numbers for an '88 model are 53002 931 (L) and 53002 932 (R). I don't think they changed through the production, but the dealer would know for sure.

    2 vs 4 Door Weight Difference ?

The FSM for my '87 lists the following curb weights: 2dr- 1306 kg (2879 lb.) 4dr- 1372 kg (3024 lb.) The difference should have remained similar through the entire production run.

Drum brake hardware kits (extra parts)

Kits like this sometimes contain extra parts so they can be used in several different applications. It's cheaper for a distributor to stock one kit that can be used in a lot of different applications than it is to have to stock 5 or 6 kits that are unique to specific vehicles. The parts...
