I have an 88' jeep wagoneer 4.0l and i have a rod bearing loose so i am in a pickle. I do not know the best approach. I am having alot of trouble finding a motor that is used that would directly swap because it is so old, and it is a RENIX. I am not that good of a mechanic but i cant afford to...
I just need some ideas. I will try and adjust my idle i just do not know how, and the tps i remember how to adjust it i just do not remember to what setting.
I have an 88' jeep wagoneer 4.0l with 165k. I just got the head reworked because when i took the intake manifold off to replace the gasket because i had a leak i found a bolt broke off in the head. When i first started it up after i had done the work it idles alot lower now around 400-500k. Now...
I know for a fact that i tightened all the bolts. But what is the donut or collector flange? I did not gouge the gasket it was perfectly fine. I am wondering if it is and exhaust leak that i am hearing because it sounds different when i hit the gas on the road, almost like a ticking noise?
The head was nasty dirty and carboned up, i hope its not an exhaust leak because that is the whole reason this happened. I feel like i did a pretty thorough job on the intake gasket?
Yea i torqued them like you said and put everything backk on and it seems to be running great. I had gotten the head reworked and everything when i pulled it. The only thing is when im driving it now it almost has a tapping noise not loud or anything and only when i get on the gas. Any ideas...
I put it on with the black stuff. I think it should do fine. I would wait but i cant i have no time as it is and i dont think that should affect anything.I am wondering however do i have to put rtv or some type of sealant on the rocker arm bolts?
Actually the color was orange on the bolts. But i have permatex thread locker high strength is that what i put on the #11 bolt? Or i also have rtv sealant for the thermostat housing or i have the rtv black?
I am in a hurry and i replaced all the bolts except the head bolts. Also i noticed some of the head bolts on the passenger side had rtv on them. What does this mean? I am putting them back in without sealant except for the one. Yall think that would be alright?
I was wondering if i need to rtv any of the head bolts? I believe their are 14 of them. This is my first time takeing the head off and putting it back on so i was in need of some advise if any Thanx.
