Just as an FYI, I felt around the passenger seat and it's bar had this same divot. I don't know what the purpose was.
Seat's all welded back together and reassembled. Going to take the opportunity to clean the carpet where the seat goes before putting it back together, but otherwise it's...
Got in the Cherokee a few days ago and noticed the driver seatback was kinda bent.
Got it all apart and the base is cracked, bent and generally mangled.
So I'm going to get it all welded back together.
But there's this sorta oval-shaped cross section bar that went across the back between the...
Thanks for the tip. Used to be I could get just about anything for the Cherokee at the local Advance or in the next closest one.
I have to drive 45 miles away to get that snubber.
Getting crazy out there.
Picked up a used head on ebay off an 04. After some cleaning and replacing the valve seals, got it installed.
However, while rotating the engine after installing the first few sets of rockers, noticed an odd noise. Determined it was a sloppy timing chain. So now I'm working on getting the...
Yep. The head's cracked.
After sitting all night pressurized, I can see the crack on top of the head. I suspect it's also cracked below.
Thanks for the help, guys.
No. Oil looks good and level hasn't risen.
Have plugs out. All look good and consistent. Valve cover off. No sign of cracks or leaks. I'll probably leave overnight pressurized and check cylinders for signs of liquid tomorrow.
I lost my sense of smell, but I checked the carpet and there's no sign of leakage on the passenger side. Would it be worth pulling the blower motor or is that the evaporator just inside the cavity?
01 XJ AT with 4.0
Losing coolant every few weeks. Trying to diagnose.
Pressure tested it today and it held 15psi for most of the afternoon. No visible leaking I can find.
Oil level hasn't risen and oil looks OK.
I had to drive it to take the garbage out so it's currently hot. Planning on...
Have a 2001. Owned it about 4 years. I just put in my 5th oil pressure sender.
All except the one that came in it worked at one time when new. I don't think I've ever had one last more than a few weeks.
The one that came in it has no markings. It reads 20psi all the time when the ignition...
I don't know if this will help anyone and I apologize I didn't take any pics.
I replace 6 of the 8 hinge pins. More than half the bushings were still loose on the new pins when I assembled - one was actually worse than the one I took off.
Some of the original bushings were completely intact...
So I'm replacing door hinge pins in the front doors of my Cherokee.
Already had the doors off to fix the rusty rockers so it seemed like the best time.
Using the kit that comes with the new bushings, pin, sleeve and the retaining clip
Other than being a PITA to get the old pins out, the first...
I had put in an autodimming mirror awhile back. Just tapped into the cigarette lighter plug that's powered on run with those little vampire clips.
I really wanted an outside temp display of some sort, and after going down several rabbit holes, I ended up getting another mirror with the temp...
I know this is a long shot, but there's a seller on ebay, autochampoftexas that sells OEM-looking seat covers. It looks like they're making these themselves, so they must have access to some OEM-spec fabrics.
Here's a listing for the passenger seat bottom cover for mine so you can click over...
I do this to all my vehicles. Been stranded too many times by fuel pumps and been unable to do anything about it. Always seems to happen just after filling the tank too.
I shared two photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qHm9KLWYdcCE4YJV9 in case the images below don't show up.
Just an update.
No problems since wrapping this up. Been 7 months and my tire wear issues are completely gone. I'd have been looking at yet another pair of tires by now had I not fixed this.
I'm in the process of replacing the rockers on my XJ. So it's in the garage with all four doors off, fenders off, interior gutted.
With the crappy temperatures this spring, I've had a lot of stalls because it's not warm enough for primer/paint/sealant to dry. In other words, been staring at...
Wanted to share this with you guys in case anyone has this issue in the future - it was a little difficult to find good info.
I bought my 01 about 5 or 6 years ago. First Jeep and I have been very happy with it. Only real problem I had that I couldn't sort out was the rear tires wore much...
Thanks for that thread. I will go over the whole harness.
I have new injector connectors on order. Should have them Thursday so this will be a project for next weekend. I'll pay particular attention to the area between 5 and 6.
Appreciate your help RCP Phx
