2" lift, Long shackle or Add-a-Leaf?

Thanks. I can find leaf packs in the U-pull-it yard. Any concern about shock length with a 2" lift? Topping out? Weekender

2" lift, Long shackle or Add-a-Leaf?

Considering a little lift for our '01 XJ which is stock, riding on 235/75r15s Wranglers. The most we do off-road are camping trails which may be washed out. No rock-crawling. Also don't want to get into needing a SYE or other mods but if necessary could go for a Hack-n-Tap and front DS for...

Hood vents, scoops etc. Heat extraction

Fan timer sounds like a must do for 2001s then. Another question, but I suspect I know the answer. I've seen under engine shields sold for the xj to keep water, mud, etc., off the belt and accessories. I suspect most XJs run without them as they're vulnerable to being torn off. Do they make...

Hood vents, scoops etc. Heat extraction

Thanks for all the responses! Going to the U-pullit yard this weekend looking for vents. If I don't find anything I think the Napier vents will be the choice. Weekender.

Hood vents, scoops etc. Heat extraction

Our newly acquired '01 XJ is black and on a warm day we did have the vaporized fuel in the hot rail idle issue. Summer here is brutal so I'm looking for options for scoops or vents on the low budget side. I've seen the spacer / stacked washer approach to raise the rear of the hood and wonder...

    Trackbar flag nut re-do

    Worked great.

    Say NO to Lowe's hardware.

Good to know! I went to 60ft/lb with the Fastenall bolt and left it there. Now to replace the door strap and find suitable hood vents. The XJ is black and it will be in the 90s here when our month of Spring is over. Weekender

    Trackbar flag nut re-do

Replaced the trackbar on the '01 XJ and found the bolt I needed. The OEM bolt had worn to a sloppy 9mm on the shaft and wiggled around in the bushing sleeve. I didn't want to reuse the old flag nut but because of the difficulty in getting a wrench in there I removed the staked prongs on the...

    Say NO to Lowe's hardware.

Ended up remembering there is a Fastenall just a mile from work and found good quality bolts there. Also fixed the flag nut. Weekender

    Say NO to Lowe's hardware.

Put a new trackbar on the 2001 xj and needed a new M10x1.5x73 10.9 bolt. Put an M10 8.8 in temporarily but didn't torque it to the 74ft/lbs spec. Just about 60ft/lbs. Drove it for a day but wanted the proper 10.9 rated bolt. Got one at Lowe's, and it snapped in half on the threads while...

    howl from rear

This is an OLD thread but I was searching for the same answers. Our '01 XJ with 150,000miles has the Chrysler 8.25 rear end and howls at 30-35mph while holding a steady throttle. Let off and it goes away. This usually occurs only once warmed up. Starting from cold it takes a few miles before...

    Aftermarket stock size trackbar suggestions?

Ok, went the cheaper route and bought an ACDelco part from Amazon. $35. Went in easy and used a new 10.9 M10x1.5x75mm bolt from Lowe's. Reused the flag nut and will check it and torque after a hundred miles if needed. 62ft/lbs on the ball joint nut, 74ft/lbs on the bolt. Thanks, Weekender

    Aftermarket stock size trackbar suggestions?

Pounded on the bracket I should have said, not the track bar itself.

    Aftermarket stock size trackbar suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. Soaked it in PBlaster and Knock 'er Loose, pounded on it with a large ball peen hammer and pried with a crowbar. Wouldn't budge. Had to wail on the pickle fork before it would pop out. I looked at the Moog part on Rockauto, might just go with that. No plans for a lift...

    Aftermarket stock size trackbar suggestions?

2001 XJ Sport, 150,000 miles. Bought it a couple of months ago and it just developed the DW when hitting potholes. Got the trackbar off after confirming a lot of play in its bushing. Getting the balljoint loose with a pickle fork may have damaged it as it's difficult to move. So, replacing...

XJ battery strap from neg post to chassis?

Very useful information on the e-codes. I ran e-code lenses on my Volvos and the difference was very noticeable. I'll be picking up a pair for the XJ. Regarding the relay, so the headlight current flows through the switch? I'm adding relays as well. One for low, one for high. Weekender

Lifting shackles to level old leaf springs?

Thanks. New springs it is. Just don't want to get into lifts and driveline issues. This is a DD and won't see anything more challenging than fireroad use for camping, hunting, etc. Weekender.

Lifting shackles to level old leaf springs?

Noob here. My 17 year old son's '01 XJ is new to us, is stock, and in great shape. But the rear springs are sagging. Not terribly, but it's noticeable. There are no plans for a lift so is it advisable to use longer "lifting shackles" to level it out again? I've seen shackles with both a 1"...
