    Window lock out

So - just to make sure I understand, disassemble, resolder on the cracked joints, then it's good to go??? I'm on my third replacement switch now, and the only time I notice it doesn't work is when the bosses are in the jeep with me - but last weekend they helpfully pointed this out to me. HOT...

    Yet another Bumper question (Rear)

https://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1148814 May not be exactly what you're looking for, but I've made a rear swing setup that actually mounts in the OEM hitch but allows use of the receiver still - starting on the second page of the thread above. When in doubt, I think your route of...

    Tire Carriers

I have been a long-time lurker, and only recently became a member. As far as posting pictures is concerned, you just need to make sure your images are hosted on the internet, then you can post them via pasting the link into the "insert image" dialog box that opens when you click the "insert...

    Tire Carriers

Thanks... it's nice having a machine shop at your disposal for things like this. All of the hardware is way overkill in terms of strength, there are sealed needle bearings in the pivot too, so hopefully it'll require next to no maintenance for the duration.

    Tire Carriers

Yeah - I couldn't come up with another mount that tied-in to the unibody better than the existing hitch, so it ended-up working quite well.

    Tire Carriers

Sorry about that chaps, I tried posting pics earlier and they didn't quite come through... close-up of hinge setup: second close-up of hinge setup that shows how it mounts into existing hitch: yet another close-up of hinge setup (with top tube attached), better view of how it installs in...

    Tow hitch question

Not sure if I completely disagree with this... that said, towing of any sort and you'll find brake work is in order sooner rather than later.

    Tire Carriers

THIS is the route I went, and it indeed did end-up only costing about $100 all told. Mine comes out of the main hitch tube itself though so I still have a usable receiver point to tow and/or pull with.

    Headliner restoration (paint, no fabric)

Quick follow-up question, do you notice any difference with road noise with that insulation at all? The more I look at this, the more I really like it... my XJ was an ex-fleet vehicle for a cable company so it has this annoying antenna installed on the top and I've put off removing it for the...

    Headliner restoration (paint, no fabric)

This is a fantastic idea, and it does look great. Nice write-up, I am thinking this will be the route I take when mine starts to sag more than I'm comfortable with. Well done.

    Intermittent rough idle at start

I mean, I've tried all the sensors, new injectors, heat wraps, just about everything short of replacing fuel pump and lines and it'll still behave like a heat-soaked beast whenever it pleases. And where I live is decidedly not all that hot - I just accept it as it is.

Looking to rent/borrow/buy balljoint press adapters

THIS - o'reilly's around here loans the press and then a separate set of 4x4 adapters that STRONGLY resemble the factory spec adapters. I recently did mine, threw the new ones in the freezer for 24 hours, getting the stockers out was a PAIN, but a little heat, some penetrating oil, and...

    Intermittent rough idle at start

Start here, but be warned - heat soak will pretty much always plague you.

    Tow hitch question

If you decide to tow 5K lbs, you'll absolutely nuke your brakes without a controller. Just be ready to replace rear brake cylinder seals... which will probably lead to an entire rear brake job.
