Long arm ( radius arm style ) build

It looks like there are only the four stock nutsert bolts and 4 additional bolts securing the crossmember- is this really enough? It seems that every other other setup I have seen uses at least 10 bolts.

It has begun -Dial Up Shoot yourself-

JamesD- Guess what? There are assholes on the internet. Try posting this on Pirate and see what happens. Most people are criticizing your design for your benefit and the SAFETY of others. Another reason you are a target is that you seem to be trying to jump over the learning curve. Just...

    Turbo manifold progress

Actually, the fumes from TIG and MIG would be almost identical. Welding stainless will produce hexavalent chromium (aka hex chrome/chrome-6) which is carcinogenic, no matter how it is welded.

What the story how you got your xj/mj?

My fiance bought her XJ in college, had it stolen one week later from behind the sorority house, and was recovered a week after that. She went to the towing yard and found blood all over the driver's area, in addition to drugs, pipes, needles, and stolen merchandise. The cops said the blood...

Random thought: ATTN COLLEGE GRADS...Was college worth it?

IMHO the degree will open the door and experience will get you hired over the other applicants. To get the experience while in school, find an internship (preferably with a company you may want to work for), they are are a great way to go, and that's how I landed my job a semester before...

    frony upper shock problems

The top washer should be about the same diameter as the bushing (~1.5"?). Is this the size washer you were using? Edit: Nevermind, beat me to it

    UCA woes

If you are parked on solid ground (concrete, asphalt) you should try cranking the steering wheel to one side to see if the axle position will shift. If nothing happens, crank the other way. Usually works for me. Also a good technique for installing track bar bolts. Don't forget that the UCA...

    Upper Control Arm Bolts...

You probably will NOT find these at everyday hardware stores. The 10.9 rating of the bolt is not a normal item (most only stock the 8.8). Today I tried Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, Napa, American Auto, and "Do It Center," without any luck. It looks like Fastenal has it, but they were closed today...

    Kel-tec

Just my .02 about the Kel-Tec--If you get the P-11, make sure to use a 15rnd mag otherwise its hard to hold onto the thing. Also, if you use hollow tip or "hydroshock" type rounds, the loading ramp may need to be massaged a bit for smooth action. I like mine, though of course not as refined as...

Home HVAC Evaporator coils icing up

I always clean the filters twice a year-before heat and before AC. I think only 1 register was closed from the winter-my office because I like it 65 degrees and my woman doesn't really like that (she is cold at 70). I did notice the fan was dirty but I'll check and clean the fins for the...

Home HVAC Evaporator coils icing up

Yeah the leak was located-it is in the evaporator coil assembly and the part was something like $500, which I didn't have at the time and still don't, but the technician said the leak was extremely slow and it would probably be at least a couple of years before we needed to top it off again...

Home HVAC Evaporator coils icing up

No air was coming through the registers, so I opened up the HVAC closet "box" and the evaporator coils have ~1" thick ice completely covering them. Also, I can hear the flow of freon through the lines. Had the freon topped off last year because we have a small leak and it worked fine then. I...
