Issue started at a gas station. Filled up with gas and then no start. All lights comes on and starter doesnt turn. Tried a quick jump and still same issue. Checked voltage with a meter and had 12.5 volts at battery. No current going to starter terminals while someone was turning the key. Starter...
After engine swapped with rebuilt unit, I had the AC compressor changed and serviced. That was a month ago. I think the AC has been fine until yesterday. The AC just felt weak. This was one of the few times that I actually had the AC on full blast and it still didnt feel that cold. I normally...
Changed my tranny seal while I had the engine out to replace with a rebuilt 4.0. Made a mistake of taking off the whole pump (see thread below).

Now have the engine and tranny mated and engine runs fine. On park and...
99 4.0
Just replaced engine with a rebuilt.
Engine turning over, able to smell fuel out of exhaust, Spark plug boot sparking (stunning neighbor).
What could be my problem?
How do I prime a rebuilt block with coolant? Is there a specific way of doing it or just keep topping off the radiator? Because that block is bone dry, coolant wise.
About to slap the converter on (99 4.0 AW4 automatic) and really dont know about it. Does the transmission fluid circulate through it? How much fluid should I have in it during the install? My neighbor says about a quart or just enough to not spill when turned vertical.
Heres what i plan to...
Theyre the two studs without the threads seen in this pic..
my long block didnt come with them and if you look inside the hole you can see the head bolts. Tried pulling them out but no luck...any suggestions?
Have the engine out and decided to change the front tranny seal. My bell housing is split in two so waiting in the mail for that part. Question is how do I get to the seal? Do I need to pull off the front cover? Is there a gasket behind the cover? What are the bolts torqued to?
Just received a rebuilt long block (4.0 for a 99xj) but looking at it and the instructions that came with it, I really dont know or understand some of the preparation for it.
Some questions come to mind are:
1) Ill need new studs/bolts for the intake/exhaust manifold, what other hardware do I...
99 xj 4.0 with 140k miles
Changing engine due to severe internal noise, leaking oil, and just for S&G's.
Doing it this weekend with a rebuilt long block.
So Im looking around and I cant find the point where to hoist it. The manuals just says "dont use the intake manifold". So where can I attach...
99 xj with auto tranny. 115k miles.
The other day the check engine light comes on and the only thing I notice on the guages is that my speedometer doesn't react in real time. It plays catch up. I start going and after a few seconds my speedometer starts and it eventually registers the current...
Battery good. Fuel pump changed last weekend. Still with the same symptoms. Starts and runs fine. Then when coasting the engine just dies. It cranks fine but just wont fire. After awhile when it does start I can smell gas for a little bit.
So my guess is that it is not getting spark. 6 months...
