Latest USFS update says snowpack in the Sangres is at 160% of normal, and Medano is not expected to open all the way through until mid June.

East entrance to Great Sand Dunes -- there are a bunch of primative sites just outside of the park available 1st come 1st serve, but on a holiday weekend they will likely be gobbled up on Thus. night. Medano Creek hits the sand dunes and starts to have wave action as the sand holds it back, and...

We're toying with it... were going to try and hit Medano Pass, but our group is dissolving. Our main goal is to avoid crowds, idiots and two strokes. I'm old.
