Did you check to see if you got water in your distributor cap?

That is what mine had too...

My 87 had the up country package. It came with 1" taller suspension( I am assuming stiffer springs f/r) and Factory skid package. If the donor had the package then they would be stiffer...

Looks like a stock shaft to me.

There is also the SYE from PORC(performance off road center) Mine was $169 shipped. Then I used an xj front c.v driveshaft as the rear.

So what are my axles worth? These axles are a direct bolt in for an xj The front is a low pinion d44, drivers drop, 61.5" wms/wms. Superior alloys-30 spline inners/19 spline outers, CTM's, 5.13 gears, lock-rite, Warn premium hubs. I also cut and turned the knuckles to allow for correct pinion...
