So the exhaust valve on cyl3 got stuck about an 1/8in open. after a long hard decision, i decided im not putting anymore money into it. Its been sold and is leaving me today.
ill post a pic of it leaving and then thatll be that for this thread.
i wish it didnt go this way but with the gtos...
i threw the valve cover and slapped the plugs and wires back on and hooked everything up, charged the battery and got it started and running crappy per usual. enough to drive it up on a trailer saturday to go home to its new owner.
Looks like new owner is picking it up saturday morning.
im sad its going to be gone but happy at the same time. plus my wife is going to be thrilled. she loves cars and the car hobby but knows how much this thing drove me nuts and fought me and she hates seeing me frustrated with stuff.
if its a meet at park id probably drag a few buddies with JKs along and bring my tahoe or ride with one of them in.
if its a meet at a local eatery ill bring the GTO :D
appreciate it! i still want to come to a meet up at some point i just might have to drive one of my GTOs out there, DARN. Want to at least say hi to all you guys who offered suggestions and helped me out along the way.
yea i went over budget already on it and fixing it just pushes me way way past that and there are no places close to me where i can take it to play offroad. honestly it was a bad decision to buy it in the first place. i did so because i was hoping it would let me and my buddy hang out more but...
im listing my xj for sale soon if any of you are interested. basically asking what i have in it for parts even though it needs the head redone. everything else only has 400 miles on it.
4k if anyone is interested.
i was so close to buying a loaded 4x4 05 yukon with 80k miles a couple years ago. until i got it on the lift at my buddies shop and saw the rusty undercarriage.
after talking to the owner she lived in pennsylvania which is where she bought the yukon and drove it to texas. wasnt about to deal...
i popped the VC on the XJ this weekend. cyl 3 exhaust valve looks like its stuck open. its not returning fully to the close position. that rocker is loose because of it. its sitting about an 1/8in lower than the rest of the spring retainers.
but the springs all look new so i am going to call...
feels like there is always "something next" to break on this thing for me.
ive owned it almost a year, including the cost of the jeep im around 8k into it. ive driven it a hair over 400 miles since purchase.
its cost me 20 dollars a mile to own so far... not exactly confidence inspiring haha.
ive been scouring local for sale pages looking for a 4l thats in decent shape.
going to pull the VC tomorrow or friday and see if a valve is stuck or what. fairly certain i am going to sell it as soon as i get it running. ive had such a negative experience with this thing i dont even want to...
