Ok, so I just replaced the pad and rotors on the rear of my 1999 XJ. When I have the rear of the Jeep in the air and the Jeep running in drive 1st gear it can barely hold the rear wheels stopped. If I throttle up slightly the wheels will spin no matter how much force I apply to the brake pedal...
I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport 4x4 NP231 8.25/D30HP 35x12.5R15s 4.0.
In the summer of 2018 I had 4 wheels parts install an Ox Locker. I had a re-gear done the previous summer to 5.13. I had been hearing some odd noises from the rear of the Jeep that suddenly became more intense. I removed the...
Just wondering if it's possible or if anybody has cut and turned the inner C's on the Dana 30 while was in the car.
Also, 8 degrees is the correct caster angle?
So I want to get the aux cooler from out of the front of the AC condenser. Where could I mount a remote cooler with fan? I see few spaces suitable.:smoker:
When the jeep is cold it will turn both directions, but after it warms a little it feels like no power steering when turning left only. The steering box is a PSC. Is there a way to free the valves or fix whatever is causing this?
So my XJ has big cracks in the quarter panel just below the window going to the D pillar. How do you guys fix this? Just weld up the cracks or should I also weld on some quarter panel armor to reinforce the whole area? Also what about using thick gauge sheet metal to cover the rear window also...
Is it safe to grind down one side of the pitman arm? My rugged ridge drop pitman arm is considerably wider than the factory unit and it contacts the sway bar when turning full left.
So I have a new NP231, and I installed a 600-551 Dorman shift switch, but the part time light does not come on. I did remove the switch and manually pushed the ball bearing and confirmed that the light does turn on. It's almost like the switch isn't quite long enough. Any ideas?
My transfer case seems to have developed an intermittent popping grinding noise. The noise goes away in 4x4 part time, but is noticeable in the other selections. I've installed a hub lockout kit, so I'm wondering if it's wearing out the Full-time diff, even though I'm not using full-time.
So I was trying to remove the pitman arm nut to look at the sector shaft splines and check for play/wear. The nut started stripping and I couldn't remove it. So I tightened it back on, it went all the way back on but was very hard to turn as it was stripping the lower part of the threads of the...
Has anyone installed an auxilary fuel cell, maybe behind the rear seats. It could be nice because you could plumb it to pump into the stock tank and get extra range.
So I installed the Yukon locking hub conversion. Now when I go over 65mph the front drive shaft spins causing unwanted vibration. I have verified that the drive shaft is spinning with undercar videos. It will do it even if I run the rear wheels in the air and vehicle stopped (front wheels...
I bought a rebuilt NP242. Late model for a 1999 XJ.
I've replaced the rear output seal 4 times now because it keeps leaking.
Each time the inside of the seal seems to break off, as if the seal is contacting the snap ring that holds the output bearing to the shaft.
Is there supposed to be a...
Ok. So I've had these issues for a while.
I have a 99 XJ NP242.
I replaced the front output bearings due to a very slight up and down movement. There was a bad vibration above 65mph with the 3.55s and 30s.
I noticed that the vibration was gone immediately folliwng the bearing replacement...
