well I feel silly now.
The shape seemed similar to my old 87 XJ's Dana44 rear, combined with the "D44" Stamped on the front of the diff cover I just assumed that's what it is.
Thanks for helping me out.
Understood. I’ll snap all they need. What sections do you guys need?
Also: I’m hoping having it in the Modified section is acceptable vs the stock forum
My 94 Country edition XJ came to me via my uncle, but it’s been in the family since it was first purchased by my great Aunt. She had it in Europe for many years before bringing it back stateside with her. It is a left hand drive and a US spec rig.
The head scratcher for me is the Dana 44 front...
solved the door lock issue. We pulled the wiring out to inspect and I realized it was wrapped in electrical tape from the connecting clip back to the main wire bundle by the door hinge so we took all of that off to find someone had pinched the snot out of the wires while doing other work on the...
well I traced the remote start wires: all were spliced into others, vs cutting and eliminating the source wire's destination so I dont think it cut power to the driver's side door lock.
as for the battery drain my son turned the bluetooth off on the radio and it stopped killing the battery
My son was given a 95 XJ that was my grandfather's, then my uncles, then my cousins... finally my sons. Those that remember me from years before might recall I had an 87 XJ... that was my grandfather's, then my uncle's.. then mine. We recycle.
Anyhow: this thing is a 95 Country and we...
I'm sure this title is worn out but I'm hoping it's a tad different.
Sounds like it's coming from the rear of the 4.0 engine bay. It's not a tap, nor a knock. The sound doesnt seem to speed up or change in sound level with rpm increase or decrease. Its a steady rattling sound and is definitely...
Thanks guys, it was a fun job.
Tried to get a new front driver side axle and all they had was one with a CV joint that was supposed to fit but didn't. We had to clean the surface of the old one and throw it back on.
My buddy is lucky that hub hasn't failed on him completely.
Yep, got it.
Here's what we did for those with the same problem:
Thread the bottom two bolts in, remove the top one. Back the threads out about 1/8" once, use a 1/2" drive extension plus the socket and beat each side with a machinist hammer, alternating sides and slowly backing the bolts out...
I'm trying to replace my friend's front wheel bearing assembly and it was so thrashed the front half pulled out, how do I get the pressed in piece out?
87 XJ with AW4 and roughly 4" lift, no transmission spacer blocks.
When my XJ is shifted into park it does not lock into place unless a good bit of force is applied to give it that extra bit for the ignition locking tab to click in place.
My Sister in law now owns my jeep and the quirks I know...
Well I had an opportunity to buy a much more reliable vehicle but it came at a price.
I bought a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins diesel and 6 speed manual 4x4 truck that only had 44,000 verified miles on the truck for $20,000
It was time to say goodbye to my XJ, so I gave her to my sister in law...
Just an update:
Rock auto sent the replacement the same day my return was in the FedEx system. So far I'm quite impressed with the customer service at rock auto and Lares.
All I'm out money wise is for the PS fluid and then my personal time which is fine since I have plenty of it.
