I regeared to 4.56 for 285 (33"). Gas mileage still sucks, but acceleration is fine. Regearing is expensive. Depending on our off-road vs. on- road use, I would recommend reducing tire size to 31" and eliminate regearing and cutting.

AT's are great if you never drive them in mud, wet snow or ice. They never clear themselves and become slicks. Removed them and replace with Coopers on my XJ and Toyos on my truck. MT's might be better, can't speak from experience.

Searching would reveal many answers. However, i do not know if you can do an advanced search without being a NAXJA member. The first question is why lift? What is your purpose for the vehicle? What tire size? Because lifting cause many other necessairy modifications, e.g.; steering...

~4 inch lift w/33s. Installed new rear D44. Used JKS shock mount tabs. Welded to lower edge of tube. Had to change shocks back to regular OME instead of extra-long. Everything else stayed the same. Ride is same. Improves ground clearance.

RE: new Banks header. FYI - Talked with Banks directly, there is a new header which differs from the original. The original cracked and had to be replaced under warranty too many times. The new header only has a 5-year warranty.

285x17 on 8' rims with 4"BS, 4-4.5 lift and trimed. I also have hub kit and it makes the front track wider and stick out more than rear. but, that is OK because you have more fender clearence in the front. You will have to search for wheels with 4-4.5 BS. Why 17's? Becuase it gives the same...

MORE sometimes has this item on sale, that is how I bougtht mine. Seems to do the job. I have the frame stiffeners from the front bumper past the steering bix too.

I am burried and have one set of chains that fit my new larger tires. So, my questions is: Is it better to chain the front or back wheels? I have ARB lockers.

If you search Banks or headers, you will find a whole lot of very unhappy Banks owners (cracks). I have no personal experience with the header, but the Banks programmer, which I was so stupid to beleive the hype, makes no improvements in performance or fuel.

Removed original air intake box, went to a high perforfance intake and placed the ARB in the location of the old box. Sits beautifully behind computer on the inner fender. Very clean and accessable. You can hear it come on and charge the tanks, but not loud. Sorry, no pictures, my wife does...

I have same lift; ran 31's on stock wheels with no problem. Backspacing is the issue. Most after market wheels do not have 4.25 BS. You can find it if you search. Larger than 31's requires new wheels and fender trimming.
