Driver side power door lock stopped working?

Check the solenoid for voltage when you're power locking the door, If you're getting voltage, replace the locking solenoid, if you're not, check the wire leading to the solenoid for any breaks (door hinge tube, under drivers side feet, kick panel) maybe one of the wires has come loose) can't...

    Aw4 on its way out?

Check the TV cable, That was 80% of my provlem the other day. Adjusted that according to Chilton, or Haynes or whoever, and it shifts like a new ride now... Don't underestimate that one, it's amazing what it does. Course it's kinda low milage to have those problems...

Dumb Q: What is the fastest you went in 4H without noticing:) ?

I know I've had mine at 75 on a 2 track before in 4H, Never gave me a problem, even after 232000 miles. Purred like a kitten.

    whats preferred?

I use 4 low to pull other people out of the ditch in the winter, but most of the time I use 4 hi if it's too sandy/loose for 2wd. Most stuff though is 2wd. I only have had the part time option on my 3 jeeps. I like it when it gets hairy. Next best thing to lockers. Full time 4wd kicks in...

    O2 sensor on startup

Sounds more like a choke issue to me. but that's just me. My 92xj 4.0 cranks for about 5 seconds, then starts. From what I understand, the fuel pump is on if the key is on, nothing should tell it to stop pumping, just the fact that the fuel doesnt have anywhere to go it the injectors aren't...

    Starter or NSS?

You could bypass the NSS, but then you also have to consider that the reverse lights and part of the engine performance is based on the other connections on the NSS, it's not just the start switch, but also has contacts for 1-2, 3, Drive, and reverse... 230 bucks new, but you can rebuild for...

    Neutral/ Reverse Switch needed

I need a Neutral/reverse switch for my 92 Laredo XJ, AW4 tranny, and I broke the threaded end on the wiper of mine. The switch works, but I need a new wiper. Anyone have a blown aw4, or an old one sitting around with the switch still attached? I can run for a little bit on the current one...

    Wipe my tears away...

Mine did not move at all either, because the actuator arm had fallen off the motor arm (ball joint) so the motor just clunked around under the cowling when turned on. I could see that night as well with as without the wipers, as the rain was coming down so thick that nothing could keep the...

Who has the highest Miles on an OEM 4.0L...no head/cylinder work.

my first (93 country) 4.0aw4 had 239 when she went out in a fiery blaze (The interior burned up, but the motor was still prime.) bought another (92 laredo) with the same setup 1t 185, and she's going past 200k this week. Still better pickup, speed and MPG than my 98 Durango (Course the Kenne...

    Wipe my tears away...

This happened to mine about 1000 miles from home in the worst rain storm I have ever driven through, at midnight. I pulled in to a gas station under the cover by the pumps, and pulled off the cowling (the part between the hood and the windshield). I found that the cross-member that holds the...

    Electrical Woes

How about the constant power fuse under the hood. should be a 40 amp fuse or so... big sucker. The constant power is the one you need, not the radio one. It might be the one in the interior fuse block too, that's for constant power

    2 part wiring/dash question

    1. The trim ring pry's off, the dash itself is held in by screws behind the "trim ring" 2. Try it. Plug in something and turn off the car. pull the keys, If it's still on, it's constant... Most likely it is.

    Really Wierd Electical Problem

loose/abbraised door switch wire. Sounds like you're getting an intermittant short on a wire leading to a door sensor switch. I would check those circuits first... sounds like a standard jeep wire insulation wear problem.

Things that annoy me about stock XJ's

The fact that all wires going to the door run on top of the floor boards and under the carpet right where your feet rest when driving. I had a chunk of melted copper 3/4 of an inch thick from all these wires melting together when one shorted from wear (Wore through the jacket and grounded to...

4.0 won't start (Neutral safety switch??)

Battery problem, or Grounding problem. I would definately check that you have a good strong connection to the battery, and the chassis. Go get a new battery from (Place random auto parts store name here) and try it out. If the problem is gone, keep the new battery, if it's not, return the new...

Things that I LOVE about stock XJ's

I love that I can sit at the top of a sand hill and laugh at my friends in "Big Trucks" getting stuck on the way up. I love that I had to pull the Sherriff's "big truck" out of the snowbank with my little cherokee. I love that I can hit a 2 track at 70+ and I don't bounce off like a truck...

    Watch your gas

So YOU're the jerk in the escort holding up traffic... I thought maybe the transmission you had in the back was from the ESCORT, and you were pushing through a hole in the floor like Fred Flintstone. :jester: JK... Yeah, I enjoy driving my XJ to work because it gets much better gas milage...
