FOX Shocks for ~6in Lift, on road handling

XCM- Thanks for the heads up, i was actually planning on going through off-road engineering.com any how since they had the best prices. What lift height and components do you run? If you still have the part numbers from "MIke" that would be a great starting point for me.

FOX Shocks for ~6in Lift, on road handling

I have been searching for updates on people who have installed fox shocks in the front and how they like them with on road handling. I know all about the off road handling but any comments are welcome. On my 2001 XJ I have: RE 4.5" ZJ springs, 2" Spacers, Clayton Long Arm, RE 5.5" Leaf...

HELP!!! Caster angle...problem with RK steering

What about track length on a radius arm setup? Does it not really matter what where the front axle is within a few inch margin? I followed the recomendations from Clayton and set the radius arms to 36", but it seems like my track bar is cocked foward to get into the axle mount. So how do you...

HELP!!! Caster angle...problem with RK steering

Is this correct when your talking about the steering being really sensitive when you have more negative caster versus near zero caster? Everything I have read says just the opposite. I am currently trying to dial in my newly installed clayton long arms and i'm still figuring out what the best...

    Lift Wear

Whats pbb? Its well worth the trade off for now, XJ ride is awsome with the long arms and tight joints! Plus the currie joints are a lot more stout.

    Lift Wear

Ah man thats the first time I heard that, oh well I did still get 4.5 years out of them. Im assuming the same thing aplied for the Currie Joints that come on the Clayton Kit?

Has anyone used the Bullet proof steering

Well I am thinking about having a bend on either end of the tie rod and both ends of the drag link. I have about 6" lift also but I dont want to heavily modify the axle. If I put even a 5 degree bend on either end of the tie rod then it would push out the center enough that I may not have any...

    8.8" ARB Problems(locker wont unlock)!!

Figured id update this thread incase anyone is interested. I ended up stopping at the installers shop while on the way to a weekend wheling trip to paragon(before it closed). Ended up that he put the wrong crush sleve inside the lock nut that is threaded to the housing and it mashed down so...

    Lift Wear

SO I ended up splurging for a Clayton Long arm upgrade kit. When taking off my RE kit, I found all four of the superflex joints had almost 1/2" play in them. Since I had the welder for the clayton kit, I braced the lower track bar bolt hole because it had begun to round out. I also have on...

    Long Arm Limit Straps

KSXJ- thats an interesting mounting idea but I wonder how long that would hold up if you drop the axle on it a few times. Also, what did you do for bump stops after that mod?? Did you put a rubber bumper inside the bottom of the coil?

Has anyone used the Bullet proof steering

I was planning on opting for the tie rod with the close quarter bends that theyre advertising. The only thing Im concerned with is the possibility for the tie rod to roll when force is applied which may lead to slop. I saw a while ago some company was selling poly spacers that are supposed to...

Has anyone used the Bullet proof steering

Ive been looking at this kit for a while now and am finally ready to buy. I havent heard one bad thing about their products but I would sure like to know if there are any clearance issues.

    Long Arm Limit Straps

I like that one link that the guy did a currie antirock with the adjustable limit strap mount. Thanks for the info starboard.

    Long Arm Limit Straps

I have been searching but havent really found any specifics on limit strap mounting locations. I just installed a clayton long arm and have the RE 5.5" kit with 1.75" coil spacers. I was thinking about mounting the lower end of the strap to UCA bolt where it meets the lower radius arm and...

    JeepSpeed and Front Long Arms

All the Jeepspeed stuff is interesting and I would love to one day build one, but that is not nearly my goal for this XJ. I am building this for trail riding and occasional rock crawling here on the east coast. I have been looking into progressive rate coils to achieve a better on road...
