Need Fuel Tank advice - 89 XJ 4l

Found a fuel pump hanger assembly module on Amazon that include both a new fuel pump and level sender - looks like it's all plug and play. Anyone used one of these...

Need Fuel Tank advice - 89 XJ 4l

Thanks guys. I've been Googling.... seem there may be a problem fitting the original plastic tank protector to an aftermarket tank..... does that make sense?

Need Fuel Tank advice - 89 XJ 4l

Was out camping on some rough back-roads over the last several weeks and occasionally noticed a faint gas smell at the rear hatch. Found the fuel tank 'sweating' fuel - not actually dripping - near the front left corner of the tank seam (of course it's difficult to tell where exactly the leak...

98 XJ door hinge bolts suck!

Old post, I know ... but just wondering about a way to punch out those hing roll pins to remove the doors (since I can't get at the torx bolts easily on my 89 two door).

Repair Cruise, signal, Wiper delay Stalk

I can solder well enough, I just can't figure out how the lever comes apart once it's removed from the column. I might have to break it up just to see how it's put together.

Repair Cruise, signal, Wiper delay Stalk

My 89 XJ Cruise Control (also, wiper delay and WW Washer) wires have broken off the lever. I see that I can get a replacement lever on eBay for about $20 but I'm wondering if anyone has re-soldered the wires on the original lever. I just had the steering column apart to tighten the Steering...

Help: Swapping 95 doors onto an 89 Two Door

I guess I've been in a coma for a few years  You can buy the large pop rivets from Home Depot. At least you could buy them - it's been a while - I used them to put in a new Power window regulator in my 89.

    Help: 89XJ stalling

Just updating this thread..... Jeep has been running fine for the last 6 weeks or so with no stalling. The only thing I did was to add a bottle of fuel conditioner (specifically one that removes moisture) x two tanks of gas. Not sure if that resolved the problem or if I'm just on a temporary...

    Help: 89XJ stalling

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to try to spent some time inspecting and cleaning up connections tomorrow. PS: Drove the XJ several times today from cold starts and didn't have any problems. PSS: I'm not 100% sure but I think the problem may only occur at low gas tank levels i.e...

    Help: 89XJ stalling

Thanks for your note Old Man. 1/2) Seems to idle rock solid then just dies. Occasionally, I'm stopped and it's idling fine and when I just press the gas, it drops out but will come back up without stalling. I've never had a problem with the idle surging as mentioned in several other similar...

    Help: 89XJ stalling

(Did some searching but haven't yet found anything that is similar to my symptoms) I've had my 89 XJ LTD 2 Door, I6, Selectrack (all original) since new. In all the years I've owned it, it's never stalled. In the past week or so it's stalled several times, always just off idle and when the...

PWR Window Regulator, 89XJ 2 Door

Both the Driver's and Passenger's power window regulators are getting pretty slow in my old 89 two-door Limited. I replaced the Driver's regulator once already, probably about 15 years ago. Both windows are fully fictional at this point, but slow moving, which makes me think they need to be...
