Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

I realized that was what I did by adding the weight. Based on my angles what does everyone think I should do? The pinion angle and TC angle don't seem very bad, the pinion is 2 degrees less than the TC with respect to the driveline. I could add one or two degrees to make the two basically...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

So I loaded some bricks in the back yesterday and the grinding noise seems to be gone. At this point I'm thinking I just need to give these aal's some time to break in. The vibration I'm starting to think is more toe than anything since I did measure that and found it's a bit off. I'll...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

Here is a sketch of the angles. I'm not really sure which ones people are talking about when they reference their angles since the ones I get referencing the ground are pretty small. I marked the angles between the driveshaft and the TC and Pinion as well. As it sits now I have about 2...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

So it looks like if I put shims in so the pinion angle gets reduced to 5* (2* shims with the fat part in the rear) I will have changed the output shaft to about 6*. That would make the pinion one degree lower than the output shaft, does that sound correct/better? ... I'm doing a little more...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

Okay, got the angles. The shaft coming out of the TC look to be about 6*, but a more accurate measurement might be the valve cover, which the angle finder says is between 4.5* and 5*. The drive shaft itself is at 17* (by far the easiest one to check...) the Pinion is at about 7*. This was...

How much driveshaft should hang out of the TC?

I'll take a look at that site. I'm hoping it's mostly my pinion angle that's out of wack since I would rather not drop the TC but I can do that if I must. While I'm thinking about it, where would be a good place to buy the shims? Quadratec doesn't have small one (like 2*) in steel and I've...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

It's actually a 96 but I know what you mean. That was the first year that's not very lift friendly I believe. I'll try to get the angles like that later this afternoon and see what we can come up with.

How much driveshaft should hang out of the TC?

So I'm in the process of trying to narrow down the cause of some driveline vibrations when someone questioned the amount of driveshaft hanging out of my TC. Here's the picture of it: The Cherokee is a 96' and has RE coil spacers up front and RE AAL's in the back. From that picture does it...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

I just didn't really think that would be an issue with a 2 inch lift. I'll be honest, I didn't look too carefully at the drive lines before the lift, but my understanding of a 2 inch lift was that the drive line being too short shouldn't be an issue.

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

I'm going to get an angle finder tomorrow so I can actually get the measurements. Until then let me give a bit more thorough description of the symptoms. When I take off and though most of the speed range i can feel a faint vibration. It isn't very noticeable under harder acceleration, but it...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

By the way, is it normal for the shaft coming out of the TC to look like it's slanted like that? Maybe it's the ground I'm parked on or something but it looks goofy. There's no play in it or the drive shaft when you try and move it by hand. I haven't run the engine with the wheels off the...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

Here are the pictures, I just took them from the TC back, didn't bother with the front but if anyone wants them I'll get them. TC side: Diff side: Both:

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

I guess I should probably check out my angles and see where they're too high... Would I be correct in thinking that the shims will only help with pinion angle and not the angle up by the TC? All the SYE's I see are like $300 and I just can't swing that right now. Maybe sometime later, but not...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

haha, yeah, I would rather not drop the TC. I know the SYE is the way to go, but funds are a little tight right now. Would a 2* shim to angle up the diff help or should I just hold out for a SYE and not bother with the shims. The more I'm looking at it the more I agree that the back does seem...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

So I did some driving this weekend and the vibrations are a little annoying and I'm worrying that I'll end up damaging something. SYE kit might be a little salty right now, and I don't really think I have enough lift to really call for it. I'm a little new to this but I believe I can either...

Here are the pics. They're simple but I think they made a great improvement. This was before: This is how it sits currently:

Well the deed is done! The lift is installed and I love the look. The back is a little high right yet but I hear that the leafs will settle a bit and it should drop down a little. Took her out for a test drive and it went well. I can feel a little vibration from time to time but I would...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

Thanks xcm! I'll disconnect the sway bar end. I did manage to get the driver side one after compressing the crap out of the spring but hopefully disconnecting that will make the whole thing much easier. Doing this without the compressor would be wonderful since it's such a pain... I'll post...

Getting parts together for a lift, questions about that's included

Alright well all my stuff finally got delivered. I spend the morning installing the AAL's and rear shocks. Now I'm on to the front and having trouble. I managed to get the coil spring off without much trouble, but I'm having a hell of a time getting it back on, with the spacer in place. Is...

haha, got it lol. A firm ride I can handle. If I end up getting slammed around going over bumps with these I'll know why. I'll just have to see how they feel when they get here.
