    Crankshaft Bolt Hole

98/4.0 My son bought it and thought it was a good deal. Upon my recommendation, he attempted to replace the Harmonic Balancer and stripped the bolt hole thread. What are his options? Thanks in advance. Best

    Stripped Bolt

Thank you for your replies. I have the irwins and also heard that heat works. Now the questions are: 1. What do I heat? The bolt head or the body? 2. Do I try the irwins while metal is hot, or I have to wait until it cools down a little? Thanks

    Stripped Bolt

I am replacing the water pump on my wife's car. It is held by three bolts. Two of them came off, but the third one got stripped. I used only a flat wrench, but it was an 8mm bolt and it got rounded after only two tries. What are my options? Thanks in advance.

    Steering noise. Possible causes?

Not lifted, I did upgrade to the 16in rims with General Grabber AT2 tires. No cracks that I can see. I cant imagine why I would have any cracks from that because these are not large tires

    Possible Candidate for the FAQ

I did not take a picture at the time, but went and crawled up under the car with a camera in hand. I used the rectangular piece of old leaf spring. I am holding it just to illustrate the concept. The press used in this experiment was rented from the advanced auto...

    Possible Candidate for the FAQ

Throughout the years I have shared here tips and shortcuts and here is another one: If you need to change the u-joints on the front axle shafts your life would be much easier if you cut a piece metal to size and and wedge it between the yoke lobes prior to pressing out the old u-joints. This...

    Gas Tank Lock Nut

99XJ 4WD I6 220K I am replacing the fuel pump and no matter what, the gas tank lock nut wouldnt budge, so I just cut it and bought a new one from the local stealership. The new one looks exactly the same, but in black. I tried a dry run first and soon after the thread catches it becomes...

I looked at this write up, where he had the entire steering assembly including the wheel. My intention was to do such swap. Wouldn't that get rid of all the bugs? http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/write-up-97-xj-steering-column-replacement-1226056/ Thanks in advance P.S. I am the dad and...
