    AW-4 Transmission temprature. What's yours?

As I understand it, yours will read much lower than mine due to the placement of the sensor. I might have to just get a heat gun and shoot my transmission pan to see how hot the thing is really getting. Whiskey

    AW-4 Transmission temprature. What's yours?

Both coolers are on the front of the Radiator, they cover the whole front of it actually. They are plumbed in after the transmission line goes through the radiator. The Rad itself is a Checker brand 3 core. Whiskey

    AW-4 Transmission temprature. What's yours?

Umm,.. Passenger side of the transmission about half way down it,.. near the NSS switch. I was going to put the sensor in the pan until a transmission shop told me not to be an idiot and just put it there. I don't know the thread of the fitting, but one of the adapters that came with the gauge...

    AW-4 Transmission temprature. What's yours?

Yeah,.. every time I've gotten it really hot I've made a point of changing out the fluids. The filter is brand new, and I've never seen any metal in it. I'm wondering if it's so hot because of where I'm reading the temp from? Whiskey

Where is your gauge installed Sunburned? Is it in the pressure port as well? Thanks, Whiskey

    AW-4 Transmission temprature. What's yours?

Hello all! I've had transmission problems since I bought my jeep,.. at first it presented as smoke pouring out of the back of my truck going up steep hills at freeway speeds. It took me a while to track this problem down, when I finally did I found that transmission fluid was getting hot...

Humph - that's CA for you - it was a you pull it junkyard too - others wanted far more. I lived on 27th street and Northern in Phoenix for 7 years, I found the prices in the junkyards down on Broadway to be far more reasonable. Whiskey

One final pic for this project - after all that I braced it ontop like this,.. Ignore the cruddy welds,.. I'm not really good enough to weld upside down and in those small areas while still making it look good - it looks terrible, but I got plenty of penetration. Whiskey

Thank you! If it breaks now, I don't think there will be much left of the Jeep. ;) Whiskey

Heh,.. I didn't find a Dana 30 with factory 4.10's because I'm supposed to be leaving for Moab Utah in a week, and that doesn't leave me enough time to install a Ford 8.8 out back lol. Come to think of it your totally right, 4.10 will probably be a little too high still - especially since my...

My Dana 30 is just stock for now. I'm on 33's,.. and I want to Re-gear, but I still have the Dana 35 out back, and I don't think re-gearing it would be a wise use of my money. I will be going to a Ford 8.8 out back at some point, and that already comes with 4.10's, so my plan is to go to...

Me and my friend went to the junkyard today, and we picked up a greasy Dana 30 for $200!!! I was very happy that one of the XJ's there happened to be 4 wheel drive. This means I got to set my angles, and weld the bumpstops up. I spotwelded it, then flexed the axle every which way to make sure...

Thank you XCM! If it holds up, and all my angles are right when I go to put all this back together I will be a happy man :) Whiskey

More progress! Taking DesilSJ's advise into account - I drilled a hole in my shiny new plate: Then I cut this piece of tube for my new bumpstop,.. if that bends, my jeep has already turned into a taco. Then I spot welded this bolt onto a cap that I made: My new bumpstop! With the cup...

Wait,.. those bumpstop towers go straight through the part that the spring itself rests on? Oh! I see what you mean,.. I thought they just did that because their hydrolic towers were so tall and they had to. I can certainly do that,.. but there's only one problem. My coolant resivwar goes...

    Bent Shock Tower

I'm making some progress on this :) First thing I did was weld a peice of steel onto the old bump tower to give me more leverage, and use a comealong to get it relatively straight,.. the most important thing was this made the body side fairly straight. After inspection I decided that the...

    Bent Shock Tower

This is certainly something I could do - the only purpose of the bumpstops for me is keeping my tires out of my fenders during full articulation when I'm rock crawling. But would long squishy bumpstops be enough to stop the tire when I come up agenst it? Rather than it squishing out the side...

    Bent Shock Tower

Progress! Here's where I'm at right now :) I welded a piece of scrap square tube onto my bent shock tower to give me a little more leverage - and used a 2 ton comealong hooked onto my slider to straighten my shock tower as best I could. This did a great job of straightening the body portion...

Thanks for the welcome! Do you think that a kit like that would be useful for someone with a multipurpose vehicle? Or is that mainly for people who jump regularly? Thanks! Whiskey
