x2 for suspecting the battery. been chasing a hard start on my 99 and have finally swapped out the battery. starts first time everytime since. suprised about this since the NAPA battery wasnt much more than a year old. my symptoms were a hard start and rough idle for a few seconds when it did...
been having similar issues with my 99, know your feel bro. you've got a clue with the cam sensor code that i wouldnt ignore. suppose it could be an intermittent fail with that sensor, or maybe a worn out distributor assembly. as is often recomended here, refresh all your grounds and pay...
have you tried a new 16lb radiator cap? last year i was having temp spike problems similar to yours. come to find out, the electric fan was slowly dieing. i didnt realize it until it stopped spinning altogether.
hey Rainman...your link just opens up this thread again. I replaced all 6 injectors with 4hole greens from precision auto injectors. definately notice smoother idling and throttle reponse. i havent checked to see if MPG have improved yet. still have some starting problems every once and a while...
on my 99, the condensor attached to brackets on the top of the radiator. cheap plastic old studs on the condensor stripped off...mostly my own fault. just something to watch out for/consider.

99 4.0l 240k. been experiencing a hard start, rough idle for a moment or three on a cold start. evens out with no cel's. last time i pulled it apart to put in an exhaust manifold i noticed a bit of an injector leak. so i suspect this may be my issue currently. my question today is where is the...
set of front rotors for jetta, golf or beetle. bendix prt5239. brandy new. warning...they did not fit the beetle i was hoping to put them on. 30 clams or b.o.
score! looks like a handy tool if you run a fleet of 4 liters. finished my repair yesterday...noticible difference in the way my xj runs down the road. a LOT less vibration and a bit more git up n go. no leak yet too. the HB was probably going out for a while before i noticed it wobbling the...
finished my harmonic balancer replacement, took me four days of two hours ata time! wouldve been a bit easier if i coulda changed out the front crank seal without pulling the timing chain cover. but anways, all is good with no leaks without pulling the oil pan and my old green jeep seems alot...
