It's an auto. I was thinking 4.56 because I spend a lot of weekends pulling a 2500 lb. trailer up the mountain passes. That and I might go to 32s in the future.
I recently lifted my '01 XJ and bought some new 31s. My stock gears definitely aren't cutting it anymore - can you recommend a good shop in Denver to install some new 4.56s? Thanks!
I was hoping this might just be a loose fuel cap, but it came on again a tank later. The specifics are:
Fuel Sys 1 CL
Fuel Sys 2 CL
Calc LOAD 24.3
ECT (F) 109
STFT B1 (%) 0
LTFT B1 (%) 0.7
STFT B2 (%) -0.7

My mistake, my caster is +5.5*, which puts me just slightly under spec. Sorry for the misinformation. I could still probably use shims. Any thoughts about the play in the control arms? Is it normal to be able to twist them slightly?
Yeah, I know my castor is off. Could this contribute to my DW? To get back to spec I'd need +10deg change which I imagine can only be solved with adjustable LCAs. Any thoughts?
I recently installed a 3.5" OME lift on my 2001 XJ and I've been fighting death wobble. I've searched a ton on death wobble causes & cures, and my best guess is mine is caused by bad LCA/UCA bushings.
I've got a new JKS adjustable track bar, just replaced a tie rod end, new steering...
Thanks for your thoughts. It just seems strange that there was no leak at all until yesterday's death wobble - then almost all the steering fluid drained in about 10 seconds as I brought the rig to a stop.
Based on where the oil was (all over the reservoir top and sides running down), I'd...
I'm not looking for info/cures for Death Wobble - it's been covered in numerous threads & articles. I'm hoping to find info on Death Wobble as a cause for an eruption of steering fluid.
Yesterday I was driving my Dad's XJ at about 45-50 mph when it suddenly got the world's worst death wobble. After coasting to a stop, I saw power steering fluid EVERYWHERE, with no obvious leak (cap still on, small amount of fluid still in reservoir).
At the time, I swore I must have...
My main concern is will a 96 skid fit on my 01? I've searched OEM parts sites and 84-96 skids & 97+ skids are a different part number (for example: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-fuel-system-parts/cherokee-xj.htm). Does anybody know what the differences are?
I'm new to the XJ world - I recently acquired a 2001 4.0 auto w/ C8.25's & I'm going to order & install a RE 3.5" super-flex kit (full spring packs). The guys at RE said I'll need either 2 degree shims & a T-case drop kit or 4 degree shims and a SYE kit & CV driveshaft. I'm leaning towards the...
