2" BB vs. 3" Kit questions

I started with 2" spacers in front with shackles on rear saggy springs. The stock shocks worked fine with this setup. Then I started using it for camping trips and other outings and if you put just one person in the back the springs were so weak the Jeep sagged like crazy, negative arch and the...

Fuse blows when I turn on A/C

When my 92 started doing this I took apart the dash and got to the blower speed switch itself. The switch was melted to the point that all the wires were pretty much in contact with each other. I cleaned up the switch and redid the connection's and it's been working like a champ for a year no...

    Thermostat Housing

I battled this for about a year with three new housings. Come to find out it's all about the orientation of the thermostat. You can do everything right but if the orientation is wrong it will leak. If the thermostat is not properly oriented the the bar that goes across the top of the thermostat...

Stant part# for 16 PSI radiator cap?

I redid my whole cooling system this spring in preparation for the hot Vegas summer. Summer comes along and bam the temp would creep more into the warm zone than I'd like. Climbing long hi way grades with a/c would creep it up to the 220 mark. Slapped on a 16psi stant cap and it doesn't go...

    Intermittent belt squealing

I just dealt with this on my 92. 1st removed belt and hand spun each pulley. All were smooth 2nd ran engine briefly with no belt. No squeal. 3rd looked at harmonic balancer. The rubber damper material was all dried, cracked and even sticking out a little. Solution. New Harmonic balancer...

Sounds like a helicopter is following me...

I don't know, but usually when it sounds like a helicopter is following me a helicopter is following me. I think the last time I heard the noise I was mtn biking and some guy in a robinson would not leave me alone doing extremely low altitude circles around me and landing on adjacent hill tops.

 never knew hatch struts could be so entertaining. Mine still work most of the time but when it falls I'm part of the prop it up with my head crew.

SCREAMING bloody murder when first starts up... serpentine belt?

My xj had been exhibiting slight squeek's that I couldn't locate for the last two months or so. I live in the desert and my xj goes off road into the boonies 70% of the time I drive it. Went on a trail ride today and was about a good 8hr walking distance from civilization. All of the sudden a...

Thermostat Housing Still Leaking After Installation...

I had this same problem about 4 months ago. I redid the job every possible way imaginable. Gasket only, rtv only, gasket + rtv, all with a new housing. None of it worked. Finally I said screw it. It leaks a little when the motor is cold then stops leaking when it warms up. It also does not leak...

Dead horse: OME rear leaves, owners chime in

I was considering getting some OME leaf's but I ended up spending the money on this RC crawler. I was regretting my decision when the xj got heavily loaded on my last shooting expedition.

Got a question about recharging a/c

I am not an AC expert but I just had a shop fill me up with freeze 12 a couple weeks ago. You can buy the whole freeze 12 kit and do it yourself for about $75. It is supposedly completely r-12 compatible and in searching I have seen nothing but good things about it. I live in Vegas. It was 100...

Interesting option for old ac's Freeze 12

I've got a 92 XJ and summer is right around the corner. I live in Nevada so ac is important and I need a recharge of the old R 12 system. I've found what is supposed to be a direct R 12 replacement called Freeze 12. I have yet to try it. Has anyone tried it? This could be fantastic at about $12...

    Motor mounts?

I just installed the brown dog rubber mounts a few weeks ago. Easy to put on. Good fit. No vibration problems. I actually kind of think I shoulda got the poly mounts so it would transmit some more beastly vibes through the chassis.

    Solid lift for minimal offroad

I just recently put on a 2" bb from fat bob's off road. Only $85 or so shipped. Also running 30"BFG at's. It seems like it'll be adequate for anything but the most crazy stuff.
