Has anyone ever successfully disassembled the electric remote control mirrors on the pre-1997 XJ's to get to the internals? I would like to remove the internal parts from the housing in order to have the housing rechromed. Any tips on disassemly/reassembly technique appreciated.

I am in the market for a set of chrome door handles for a 1990 XJ project vehicle. Any through 1996 should work. This is a complete restoration project, so I am only interested in handles which are in A-1, tip-top condition. Thanks.
