Castor in itself is not what is causing the vibes. I'm pretty sure the pinion angle is.
If you measure out castor to be for example 10° then you can buy adjustable uppers and rotate your axle forward 6° and still have an acceptable 4° of castor.
But.. if you measure your current castor to be 5°...
Hi there,
I had the exact same thing happen when I lifted my 01 XJ that has a low pinion D30 and a TC drop. When I removed the front shaft the vibes went away. At first I thought the front shaft was shot because of some looseness in the splines but then I got to thinking "why wasn't this causing...
X3! but the RE HD trackbar bracket will lower the mounting point at the frame end making your trackbar more horizontal. This is a good thing but in order to keep the draglink parallel you will need to also get a drop pitman arm. Can anyone chime in here and tell us by how much it will lower...
I've had it in my 2001 XJ with 231 case for a few months now. Nice and easy shifts, and it completely solved my issue of the stock shifter kicking out of 4L.
I recommend!
Just a thought but how about getting a novak adapters 231 shifter linkage (part number SK2X) kit? Should work fine for your application. I'm running it in my XJ.
I had the same issue as you trying to get the studs out. The first I tried taking out with vice grips but all that did was strip the threads. I tried a pipe wrench on it but that didn't work either. I then drove over to a friend's place with only 3 bolts holding the crossmember and got him to...
I have an 01 XJ Sport in which I installed the RC 4.5" lift c/w full spring pack rear. When I originally installed it I was getting serious vibes starting at just 15mph. I pulled the front drive shaft and my vibes were completely gone. No SYE in the rear and no vibes. I looked into it and...
Because the front is a dual cardan driveshaft your pinion angle should match your driveshaft angle.
When you say your driveshaft is "not at all "right at 0"" do you mean it's a little bit up from horizontal?
I'm guessing here but if you installed longer lower control arms... I'm betting your...
Chris420.... I have the same problem with my front driveshaft slip section. There is a bit of play in there when I push up on it. I never noticed it before lifting my XJ but after the lift I was getting serious vibes. I'm currently running without the front shaft until I decide what to do about...
